How can I successfully installed macromedia flash player?

Pages on internet explorer displaying flash content such as advertisements etc have started acting strange. It keeps on flickering etc and it didnt use to do this before. Ive used the uninstaller from the website then reinstalled the flash player but the problem still remains the same. When i use firefox, flash is displayed perfectly.How can I successfully installed macromedia flash player?
